By ron hollifield as your new treasurer, i take this responsibility very seriously. i would like to thank the walnut mountain family for voting me to the board. personal thanks to both gary troxell and chuck burnfield. they have been a big help with the transition. currently, i have been working on the 2007 budget. i will present our preliminary budget to the board of directors at their september meeting. it will be reviewed, and a final budget will be presented at the october wmpoa meeting. just so everyone will know, i the kind of person who wants to understand where every dollar we spend is going. in my few short weeks in this position, i have come to realize that the wm poa has many of the same issues that we are all experiencing: gasoline cost rising utility cost rising car repairs lightning strikes to home appliances in our case, the gate access controls water plant production as we continue to get our water plant production under control, we will realize a lot of cost savings. the recent purchase of the leak detection device has uncovered a lot of lost water. not to sound simplistic, but lost water found is found money. this is paid back to us in many different ways; i.e., lower utility bills, fuel consumption, manpower usage, and overall maintenance cost. there is one issue that needs to be addressed; that would be the , 000 line of credit. i do not see us paying that line of credit off by the original estimate of march 31. as i mentioned above, we have been hit with some unexpected cost issues. i don't have a crystal ball to guess what the cost will be for gas or utilities, or if we are going to get hit with lightning again in calendar year 2007. i feel that we can pay down about , 000 of the line of credit by march 31. if everything continues as anticipated, i feel that we can look at paying the remainder off in the fourth quarter of 2007. this is based on my early review of the 2007 budget on anticipated income versus anticipated 2007 expenses. the major key to this will be the continued efficient water production. if i can leave any thought for what you the homeowner can do, it would be, "lost water found is found money." we all need to do what we can to help continue to drive our water consumption in the right direction. the early reports indicate that we are heading in the right direction. feel free to email me at rhollifield ellijay with any comments or suggestions for cost savings.
